Queer Food Project invite you to participate in Collective Nourishment.

through a collaboration with Gaskell Garden Project, we will be able to access supermarket surplus food to provide the produce to cook communal meals.

during our weekly meet ups, we aim to be supporting individuals to form local queer food coops, to be able to collectively buy ingredients on a weekly basis.

we will explore how we continue to provide space to cook and eat together to make meals more affordable.

COLLECTIVE NOURISHMENT

an in-person cook + eat project set up to:

+ intercept food waste to increase peoples access to fresh home cooked meals.

+ cooking quantity with nutritious quality.

+ meal sharing and buying collectively as an act of community resilience, creating a network through acts of queer mutual aid.

this project will be exploring how social eating & preparing meals as a community can influence our personal relationship with food and each other, to learn how we all can mutually benefit from sharing meals.

all meals will be on a pay what you can afford donation.

Surplus Food Induction

Gaskell Garden Project organises regular collections of supermarket surplus food to distribute out communities, and have offered Queer Food Project produce for the Thursday and Sunday meals. If you would like to get involved in re-distribution of supermarkets surplus food, tick the box to collect surplus veg, and provide your availability.

An induction with GGP for the surplus runs will be organised in January.

Queer Food Coop

Cooperation Town contacted QFP during the lockdown to discuss forming local food coops, with the aim to reduce costs by buying food in bulk.

Queers who live locally can form local buying co-ops.

Our aim for Collective Nourishment as a place to cook and eat together,

and provide a community food hub to collect regular food packages.

There are plenty of roles available for those who would like to take action on increasing access to food and connect as a local community.

Tick the box on the form to let us know you want to join!

Veg Advocates

QFP started to gather momentum with cooking communal meals in 2022 with funding from Veg Advocates, for local activities that increase access to growing, cooking and eating fresh vegetables. This programme is run by Peas Please.
